August So Artful Challenge!!!

So Artful Challenge/Theme: MAPS
The color palette for this challenge is pastel blue, pink, peach, and green!

This is my art piece for the August So Artful Challenge!

Even If I Have To Pawn My Jewels!

I tried to keep the images and embellishments
in the pastel colors requested for this challenge
until I found this beautiful painting
(at Wikipedia Commons) of Queen Isabella, I!

 I experimented with different pastel
colors to change the dark burgundy hues
of her dress but any editing I did just
kept washing out all of the color and
detail of her beautiful  face.

So I decided to leave her image, as is,
and hope that the pastel colors
in the rest of the piece will reflect
the color palette in this theme!

Thank you for this wonderful challenge!

So Artful Challenge

The Theme this Week
for the So Artful Challenge is
 "Fall Is In The Air"

Here in Tennessee,
we are having beautiful Fall weather!
It is still quite warm durung the day
but the nights are getting colder!!

I love this time of the year!
There is nothing like the
heady fragrance of an Autumn day!

Here is my entry for this challenge:

Can you imagine this little boy's anticipation
as his mother watches him while
she is working in her Fall garden!
She has had enough of his shenanigans
for one day and now he must sit
still and ponder his behavior before
he can go back outside to play!
Still, inspite of his naughty behavior,
he has one foot on the floor,
waiting until his mother thinks
 he has learned his lesson!!

Thanks for stopping by to take
a little peek at my art work!
 Please have a wonderful day!
Get out in the wonderful sunshine,
take a walk, smell the air,
think about how good your life is,
smile as you head back home,
quickly go through your front door,
and hug the one you love!!

So Artful Challenge

The theme
for this week's
 challenge is...

"The Art of Travel"!

My Vintage Lady travels on cottony, white clouds
instead of sensibly riding in her T-Model Ford!
And who could blame her!!
The scenery must be breathtaking from that height!

Thank you for stopping by

Have a Great Weekend!!
As you go about your daily routine,
remember these three precious things!!!

Very little is needed to make a happy life;
it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.

Marcus Aurelius

When one door of happiness closes, another opens;
but often we look so long at the closed door
that we do not see the one which has opened for us.
Helen Keller

And My Personal Favorite!!!

Lead the life that will
make you kindly and friendly
to everyone about you,
and you will be surprised
what a happy life you will lead.

So Artful Challenge and Free Renaissance Clip Art

This week at So Artful Challenge
is a frame instead of a theme!
The frame has that Romantic Renaissance
          look that I absolutely adore!

*Isn't He Beautiful!!

I found my John William Waterhouse
painting of  Tristan and Isolde and
used it along with some clip art that
have stored on Picasa. It took
about 15 minutes to do this
and when I finished, I was
rather shocked and pleased
with the results!

No glue, no paper, only precision
(a bit nerve-racking)and pressing the
right buttons to achieve what I
wanted the art piece to look like!

 I don't have Digital Photoshop!
I have learned to switch back and forth
from one photo editor to another
to get a few digital results.

So a little hint...
if you love that beautiful digital look
that everyone is using these days
 to create wonderful art...
but are intimidated by
the Photoshop techniques and the price...

Learn how to use your Picasa,
Luna Pics, Paint.net, and the
Paint Editor features that is already
 installed in your computer's program!

You can get lots of practice with these
"free editors" before you take the plunge
and purchase a Digital Photoshop Package!

Someday...I do plan to invest in a digital program
and want to learn the awesome digi-art "tricks"
until then, I'm limited but still learning!

A great blog that  has a list of the
Free Photo Editors and great tutorials
on how to use them is the
 Paisley Cat Scraps
Free Blog Layouts Blog site!!

Everything I  know so far about "digi tech",
I learned from the Wonderful Paisley Cat!!

HERE IS MY ENTRY:

I don't know what it is about the Renaissance Era
but Romance, Chivalry, Brave Knights
on White Steads, Stone Castles,
and  Hearts Won and Love Lost,
Immediately comes to mind...
I just can't resist this Romantic Renaissance Era!

Even though I know realistically
(sorry-- to ruin it for you)
that none of us would want to live
in that era for love or money!!
But it's nice to think of the Renaissance
as a lovely romantic world, is it?

So Artful Challenge

The Theme this week for So Artful Challenge is
International Women's Week!

I really struggled with this
theme because there are
so many different women I wanted
to use as the subject of my entry.
I finally decided to do mine on
 Mother Teresa because, not only
was she an International Woman
  but a "Real" International Mother
to all those she came in contact with.

With this entry,  I pay homage to her
unconditional love for all of those
who were in need of her unwavering care!

Thank you for looking at my art work
 and have a wonderful weekend!

So Artful Challenge

The Theme For So Artful Challenge:
"Alice In Wonderland"!

My Absolute Favorite!

BUT....
I had so much going this week
plus I was sick for a few days
and so didn't get to finish my entry!

I had started a mini-book and was
going to alter 12 pages for each of
the 12 chapters in the book
but I only got to Chapter Two!

Anyway, I am going to turn in
what I have now and then
go ahead and finish the rest
of the book  later on  next week!
I will post when I finish the book!

Sorry, Jeanette, but as I am posting
this at 5:56 a.m. in the morning!
 I'm late ...late...late
for a very important date!!

So Artful Challenge

I'm late!! Very late!!

I spent more time on this challenge then I meant to,
but it is finished and soon will be posted at So Artful Challenge!!

I had so many ideas on how I wanted
to do this challenge and worked on a
few possibilities but the art work just wasn't
coming through like I wanted it to!

So today, I started out with the first idea I had
(which is the one you should always stick with)
and finally it started to come together!

This sweet, spring image was
our theme for  this week!

I wanted to have some "sweet tiny things"
tucked away and hidden among the branches,
so at first, when you look at my entry,
you do not see them right away
but as you keep looking,
you will start to see what is
peeking out of the leaves and cherry blossoms!

So this is my interpretation of
 Cherries:

Thank you for visiting my site and
I hope you liked  my entry !
Have a great weekend!

So Artful Challenge

The Theme this week for
So Artful Challenge
 was Mardi Gras!

I found some really old vintage pictures
of men and women dressed up in
"Carnival Fair" with some very
unusual masks on their faces.
I didn't know that in the early 1900"s,
instead of wearing the ornate masks
that they wear today,
they wore hoods that covered
their whole head and face
during Mardi Gras week!

I looked up the history of Mardi Gras and was
very surprised to find out that it has been
taking place since the late 1700's!

When I first started working with this theme,
I found myself making a rather large collage,
 (at least 8 x 8 inches)!
As I worked , I thought  it would make a
great mini-book cover
if I wanted to return to it someday
and add a few pages to make a
Nostalgic History of  a
"Vintage"  Mardi  Gras!

So this is the front of the mini-book:

This is the back cover:

This is the frontcover completely unfolded::

This is what the inside section looks like when it is unfolded:

I wantd to make some necklaces out of the tiny beads
I use when I am knitting a beaded lace shawl pattern
but... I can always add them later!

I really wanted a more festive look with the
 traditional bright colors but...
I just can't do anything modern anymore !
If it looks distressed, tired, old,
and needs to be thrown away
then it goes into  my "collection"!
I am all-vintage now!

Thank you for looking at my entry
and have a wondrful Valentine's weekend!

Dear friends, thanks so much for visiting my art blog!
