Sunday Postcard Art Challenge

The Theme this Week was
"Time"

I thought of Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity
and decided that it would be the perfect for this challenge!
I wanted to show, through a  piece of altered art,
what would happen  if  time could stand still!
(Of course, this is only if Einstein was correct in his calculations)

So here is the question?
If time stood still long enough,
what part of myself would I meet first?

So Artful Challenge

The Theme for this Week's
SoArtful Challenge is:

 " The Little Black Dress"

When you hears the words
"little black dress"
there's only one person to think of,
Mon Cher,
CoCo Chanel!

Art Creations Friday Challenge

The Theme
 for this week's
Arts Creations Friday Challenge
was an image of this adorable little girl
plus a  background that had been
altered and painted in the colors
of gray, white, and slate blue!
I love these colors together so
I was really excited to start this project!
I thought of her as a little girl
sneaking off, no matter the weather,
 to check on her
Secret Garden to make sure
that her "little flower friends "
were all well and happy!

Title:
My Secret Garden!

I hope you will like veiwing her as
much as I liked making her!

Art Creations Friday Challenge

I used a vintage image of a sweet little girl
then added faeries dancing around the flower
and one dancing in her hands!
I think she  looks as enchanted as they do!

Snow in the Mountains

Yesterday,
I received two very sweet comments from Donna Gotlib,
a really talented photographer and
mixed-media artist who lives
in Michigan but is originally from the Deep South!
So, I have sent you a little bit of the South
in the images I have posted for you!!
 Here are the

Hello Donna!
I'm sending you a gift of photo images
and clip art just to say thank you
for being such a nice person!!
It really made my day to receive such
 thoughtful compliments from you
and so I'd like to return the favor!

If you visit Donna at her blog address:
 http://brainzapart.blogspot.com/

her beautiful image of  "Pink and Purple Snow"!
I thought it was such a coincidence when I visited her blog!
How Great! Someone else loves Pink Snow too!

For your Donna!!

***All of the images were taken during the
Winter in the Great Smokey Mountains!

I found Pink and Purple Snow!!

So Artful Challenge

The Theme for this week's
So Artful Challenge is "Chance"!

I know that my entry really doesn't fit
in with the theme for this week
but when I saw the ticket collage,
this popped in my mind immediately!

While I was creating "Time Traveler, I was wondering
what  "chance"  a person would be taking if he/she
crossed over the  Threshold of Time and changed
 a  circumstance in his/her  life!

Would we  benefit from a "second chance" to go back and
right the wrongs of our lives or would we forever
alter someone else's life?

Chances are, we would no more benefit the second time
around as we did the first! I truly believe that what is
meant to be is meant to be and nothing can change
the Hands of Time!

but if we could ...would we take the chance?

So Artful Challenge

The Theme for the So Artful Challenge is "Roses"!

Jeanette,  I really went "Rose Crazy" this week!
I got out all of my clip art to start
making my entry but kept finding
more and more "rosey and lacey"
clip art that I wanted to use!
Since I couldn't stop at just one,
I  kept  going with this theme
until I had 5 in total!

This was the first One
I finished and so  I decided it
would be my Entry for the
Roses Challenge
and the rest would post nicely as
 "eye candy"
for my nice visitors!

The scanner really did not do this piece justice
so I hope you can see the detail of the beads
that are wrapped around the dried rose!

My daughters picked that rose for me back
in the fall and I let it dry out and kept it,
knowing that I would want to use it later on!
I think it really worked well with the image that Jeanette provided this week!

Eye Candy!!

Tthe next three are the ones that I made just for fun!

I hope you enjoyed looking at my art work today and I want to thank you for visiting mysite!
Have a great weekend!

P.S.
Thank you Jeanette, you really inspired me this week!

Theme Thursday!

Theme Thurday

This is my
Entry
for the
Theme:

 Flight!

Aren't there times
where you feel that you must battle
your way through every
minute of the hour, day, week, month , and year?

Take Courage!
We've all had our ups and downs
and battles that we either won or lost!
We are in this together!

So...
(to stay inspired and strong)!
I am going to frame this and hang it in my bedroom
so that it will be the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning
and the last thing I see before going to sleep at night!

It will remind me to fight
for what I believe is to be right, good and true!

It will empower me to understand
that I have more strength inside  my soul
than ever could  be imagined!

It will inspire me to take action in my life
and change what is not working
for everything that is!

             P. S.  I wrote a full-length poem for this entry but I  couldn't use the complete version on the collage due to space constraints!  I really wanted to share the full version with you so I have included it in with this post!  Feel free to copy it and use it in your own art work or to keep close by for reassurance on those days when  life has thrown you into a battle that you aren't certain you can win!

Flight

O, Woman,
Stand Straight!
Stand Tall!

 Go Forth!
 Even though ye be
 filled with woes

O, Warriar!
   Be Brave!
  Be True!

      The Battle is Fierce,
      Where the Heart beats
       Strong within thy Soul!

       O Woman,
        Go Forth!
         Good Courage to Thee!
           Release Thy Fate!

         Take Flight
      And
       Soar!

Thank you for visiting my site
and viewing  my entry!

May you have a blessed week,
filled with much happiness
and a heart overflowing with joy!

Hugs,
Kym

TAG TUESDAY

The  Theme
for this week's
Tag Tuesday
 is
 "Happy New Year!"

I got a bit carried away with this challenge!
It was more like a project rather than an entry but the results were worth it!!

During the holidays, I saw quite a few tags that several talented artists had made as gift items for their friends and family.  The unique factor? These tags were made with their own "customized tag holder"!
Of course, I thought this was a great idea...such a creative way to present a gift tag...and ...how do I make it?!!!
When I found this picture of these
"Lovely Usherettes"
from the early Picture House Days,
my entry just naturally evolved into a tag-tagholder  project!

TAG/TAG HOLDER

I hope you enjoyed seeing my entry as much as I loved making it!
Thank you for visiting my site and I hope your New Year

Have a great time this week creating what you love!

Is This Heaven?  No...it's the Magical World Of Altered Art where all of the nicest people live!!

HOW DOES MY GARDEN GROW?
Is it Spring In Tennessee??

Did you think that I would ever post anything other than Halloween art images?  Whew!  I didn't realize Halloween  Altered Art could be so addictive!! Now that I have most of it out of my system, I can begin to focus on other things, such as Thanksgiving (TOMORROW) and Christmas ( WOW, it's almost here)!

But first, I have  pictures I want you to see, showing what can happen if the temperature in our area is nice and the weather mild in November! I live in the upper part of Tennessee, which is only 200 miles from where I grew up in Virginia.  Believe it or not, for a range of 200 miles, the weather is really different!  Even though we live in the Foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains, our winters here are really mild. We get plenty of   cold and windy rain and, if we are lucky,  one snow fall per year (that  barely  covers the ground)!  When I grew up in Virginia, we had snow all winter long!  I got so tired of the snow that I hoped whomever I married, might someday, be willing to move to a warmer climate! Honestly, the winters could actually last until the middle of May!!  My Dad used to say that Spring was so slow in coming that  the poor hummingbirds would fly around until June with snow on their wings!

So, here it is, November 25, and   Guess what?????  I still have pretty  flowers growing in my mulch beds and roses that are  blooming!!! I wish my blog had "scratch and sniff" because this big, beautiful rose smells heavenly! And it's not my last one either, there are more rosebuds coming out to bloom!
Amazing!

Isn't this a beautiful Rose!

More flowers growing!!

And still more!

Cosmos!

Black-eyed Susan!!

Gerber Daisies!

My  Mexican Sage Flowers!!

Sadly...my Hydrangea flowers are gone!

This is my Tropical Hibiscus Tree that my husband buys for me every year.  I used to bring my Hibiscus Tree in the house after the first bad  frost in hopes of getting it to live through winter! Try as I might,  they always died right after Christmas!
My mother  keeps her Hibiscus trees, well-covered, in her basement throughout the winter months and they always survive to see spring!!

Really pretty right now!
This is the one flower I hate to say goodbye to!
Maybe I'll bring it inside this year and try
one more time to get it through the winter!

Another favorite!
Ornamental Japanese Maple Tree!
The leaves stay a bright scarlet red all through summer and fall!

It's hard to see what is tucked under the fallen leaves but, I promise,
underneath the foliage  lives a small community of white and pink pansies!

See it really is Fall! We have lost almost all of our foliage!
Except for the Bradford Pear Trees, which loose their leaves last!

It's always the smallest things in life that make some significant importance to our  lives!

This week, these flowers really helped  me to slow down and take time to consider all that I have that I should be  thankful for!  Even with Winter so close, I can still smell the "roses" and enjoy a few more days of  "Spring"!

FOR  MY  MOTHER

I also made some Memory Collage Photos of my children this month because I am the most thankful for them!!  I  found the file in Picasa that only shows the faces of people that are in your photo album. When I first clicked on the file, what popped up first was all of these  "little smiling faces" that just made my heart melt!  The little face pictures are about  2 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches so I had a brainstorm!!  Yeah!! They were perfect for the Inchie and Twinchie challenge ...plus... I thought my Mother might enjoy a few  Memory Photos Sheets of her grandchildren as a special gift for Thanksgiving!

DEAR  MOM,
Here are your Memory Collage Photos, finished just in time for Thanksgiving!! You can use them with  some pretty vintage  frames to enjoy as my gift to you on Thanksgiving and throughout the whole year!
And yes, I am very thankful for you and Daddy too! Hugs and kisses to you both!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
Kym

Meghan made the colored sheets all by herself on the computer and wrote the little messages so I couldn't resist and used them as part of a collage for her !

In Remembrance of Delia Mae Farley
My Great-Grandmother
Thank you for teaching me how to knit!

My Prayer of Thanksgiving!

Thank you, Dear Lord, for your bountiful blessings and your loving kindness . Help us to love one another with the love of Christ in our hearts. Help us to forgive others with that same love! Watch over us and care for us as we look to you for all of our spiritual needs!
In the name of Jesus Christ,
Amen!

Credits: I would also like to thank The Vintage Moth, The Graphic Fairy, Victorian Vignettes, and Dover Publishing for being so generous in supplying free vintage images to inspire and enhance our altered art work!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

AND  REMEMBER...Please do not copy these collage sheets for your art work ( I know you won't)! This was a project of mine and they will be given as a gift to my family!  But you can definitely use the idea and make your own to show off  in your  beautiful vintage  frames!!

Dear friends, thanks so much for visiting my art blog!
